finished 1044th in the sunday million for $387 ($172 profit) and cashed/got deep in a few other games. Last night I got 3rd/63 in a turbo HORSE mtt for $150ish so not a bad Saturday night/ Sunday.
I probably screwed up in the million, but I ran pretty awful after getting up to 140k. I lost TT to KJo (57%), then A9o to KTs (54%), then KJs to AJs (30%) when the flop gave me 87% to win, then A9o to KK and 77 (25%). The last hand was a weird one where I had 45k and raised to 9400 and the small blind went all in for 19,000. The big blind just flat called and I had to call ~10k more with 50k in the pot. My odds suggested I only needed 16% equity to continue even though the big blind obviously had me beat due to his suspicious flat call. I put him on AQ, AK, or a pair TT or better, with higher weight towards KK, AK, and AA. AA was more unlikely due to the ace in my hand. Therefore I felt vs this range I should call the 10k more and leave myself 34k to possibly fold if the flop doesn’t help me.
The flop was 9-7-2 with no flush draw. The big blind led 16k and there was now 76k in the pot and I had 34k left. Basically at this point I have ~20% if he has a pair tens or better. However I felt the player could be making this play with 88 or AK, and decided to stack off and go all in. It was a frustrating hand because even though I had a strong feeling I was behind, folding at any point after I made the initial raise would have been a mathematical error. Many players would have shoved all in preflop in my situation since I started with only 11.25 big blinds and had A9 offsuit in the hijack position. Open folding preflop is too weak in my opinion. I raised here to hopefully take down the pot preflop, or be able to fold if anyone but the short stack went all in preflop.
up 3k in the last week so it’s all good.
